Our New Expansion
In April of 2006, the Deerfield Board of Directors voted to proceed with the schematic phase of a proposed expansion to include an apartment building with 83 apartments and common spaces, additions to Deerfield’s assisted living and skilled nursing facilities, and increased space for programming, dining, worship and health and wellness. In May of 2007, plans to proceed with the Design Development and pre-marketing phase were approved. Deerfield contracted with THW Design of Atlanta, architects for Deerfield’s 1999 project, to design the expansion. Other members of the team include Larson Allen, BB&T Capital Markets, Laughlin Management Services and Rodgers Builders of Charlotte, the contractors.
The expansion includes 83 independent living apartments in Tuton Hall, a new mid-rise building connected to Timson Hall, 20 assisted living suites and 14 skilled nursing residences. Other additions are new and expanded common spaces in both the Community Center and the Health and Wellness Center, including the Riverwalk, an open, spacious gathering area with a café/ deli, comfortable tables and cozy nooks. Also part of the addition is a new Health Care Chapel, a beautiful space specifically designed to enhance the worship experience for Deerfield’s health care residents.
The new apartments will be available for occupancy in mid-2010, with the health care accommodations available in early 2010. At present, there are still desirable apartments available in the new building. Further updates are available through updates to the web site, or through our on-line e-newsletter.
