Our New Expansion

OUR NEW EXPANSION

On April 27, 2006, the Deerfield Board of Directors voted to proceed with the pre-sale phase of a proposed expansion to include an apartment building with 82 apartments and common spaces, additions to Deerfield’s assisted living and skilled nursing facilities, and increased space for programming, dining, worship and health and wellness. Deerfield has contracted with THW Design of Atlanta, architects for Deerfield’s1999 project, to design the expansion. Other members of the team include Larson Allen, BB&T Capital Markets, Laughlin Management Services and Rodgers Builders for cost estimation.

The concept proposes 82 independent living apartments in a new mid-rise building connected to Timson Hall, 20 assisted living suites and 14 skilled nursing residences. Additionally, there will be new and expanded common spaces in both the Community Center and the Health and Wellness Center. The schematic design phase, which is underway now, will determine further details of the program. The pre-sale process incorporates letters to all future residents, previews of the designs, pricing for the apartments, and culminates in the taking of 10% deposits.

The expansion is projected to be available for occupancy in 2010-2011. Further updates will be available through updates to the web site, or through our on-line e-newsletter.
